Man files medical malpractice suit against hospital, doctors

How a doctor or medical staff treat a patient in Pennsylvania can be the difference between life and death for the patient. One man in an out-of-state case said he was recently mistreated by a hospital as well as health care professionals. He has thus filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against these parties.

The man said he was at the hospital to have a procedure known as a decompression laminectomy done. He was also undergoing a herniated disc excision. However, during the procedure, he suddenly went into respiratory arrest.

According to his complaint, the man ended up becoming unresponsive. He said the negligence and poor medical practice of the hospital and a doctor who works as part of an anesthesiologist group caused him to suffer. The man in his lawsuit against them is seeking both legal costs and damages.

When a patient is hurt by the medical professionals expected to help him or her, the patient has the right to take legal action. This individual can sue for compensatory damages, which may help to cover losses such as the loss of wages or the cost of treatment associated with the documented incident of medical malpractice. Punitive damages might also be awarded in cases involving egregious fault on the part of the medical provider. A monetary award may not be able to reverse the damage caused by the carelessness of a health care professional in Pennsylvania; however, it may help to address pain and suffering and ultimately bring closure to the medical malpractice case.
