Robert Peirce & Associates attorney Bob Daley wins national advocacy award

The Pound Civil Justice Institute has awarded attorney Robert Daley the Appellate Advocacy Award, which recognizes attorneys who were instrumental in securing a final appellate court decision that positively affected universal citizens' rights. Daley is a partner at Robert Peirce & Associates.

The Pound Civil Justice Institute annually gives the Appellate Advocacy Award to an attorney who has made a notable impact in improving citizens' rights, such as the right to a trial by jury, public health and safety, consumer rights, access to justice in civil cases and civil rights, among others. The Award Committee unanimously selected Daley, and his co-counsel R. Scott Marshall of Nemeroff Law Firm and Brent Rosenthal of Rosenthal Weiner, to receive the Appellate Advocacy Award in recognition of their excellent work in the case of Tooey v. AK Steel Corp., a case which significantly altered the workers' compensation landscape in Pennsylvania.

“Bob is incredibly deserving of this reputable honor,” said Robert N. Peirce, Jr, partner at Robert Peirce & Associates. “He is an outstanding attorney whose work has helped make Pennsylvania a better and safer place for residents to live and work. Throughout his years of legal work, Bob has consistently shown dedication to fighting for the rights of individuals in the face of corporate negligence.”

Daley has nearly two decades of experience representing clients in legal matters related to personal injury, products liability law, toxic torts and nursing home neglect and abuse. He frequently speaks at regional and national law seminars on topics related to nursing home abuse and neglect, class action lawsuits and personal injury, among others.

A strong advocate for civil justice, Daley has served as both regional and national coordinator of the Student Trial Advocacy competition for many years and earned an Appreciation Award from the American Association for Justice as a result of those endeavors. Daley is a member of several professional associations, including the Allegheny County Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, the Pennsylvania Association for Justice and the Western Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association. He serves on the Board of Governors for the Pennsylvania Association for Justice and has served as both treasurer and parliamentarian for the American Association of Justice's Nursing Home Litigation Group, and will chair that group beginning in July of 2016. Daley volunteers his time handling election petition challenges and as a representative of adults who suffered lead poisoning as children. Additionally, Daley was instrumental in securing Robert Peirce & Associates' role as the first plaintiff's law firm to be a partner in the Pittsburgh Pro Bono Partnership in 2014. The firm runs a nursing home project which provides free legal assistance for those dealing with the challenges of a loved one who resides in a long term care setting.

Daley earned his undergraduate degree in chemical engineering at the University of Dayton, and received his Juris Doctor from Duquesne University School of Law, where he is an Adjunct Professor in Trial Advocacy.
