Attorney Max Petrunya Inducted to Academy of Trial Lawyers

Congratulations to attorney Max Petrunya, who has been inducted into the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County. At the age of 31, Petrunya is one of the youngest members to be invited into the community of lawyers.

The Academy of Trial Lawyers is a group of attorneys dedicated to improving Allegheny County's civil litigation process. The Academy is committed to preserving the integrity of the jury system and the independence of the judicial branch, and advocates for the highest standards of civility, competence and integrity in the legal practice. Membership to the Academy is by invitation only, and is limited to 300 attorneys who are actively engaged in civil trial practice from both the plaintiff's and defendant's side of counsel table in Allegheny County in state and federal courts.

“This honor is a reflection of Max's commitment to excellence in helping win justice for our clients,” said Robert N. Peirce, Jr., partner at Robert Peirce & Associates. “Throughout his career, he has distinguished himself as an elite trial lawyer in the courtroom and as a true advocate for Pittsburgh residents.”

Petrunya represents clients in nursing home litigation, personal injury cases, medical malpractice, product liability, prescription drug claims and long-term disability cases. He is a member of several professional associations, including the Allegheny County Bar Association and the American Association for Justice. He also serves on the Board of Governors for the Western Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association and as co-chair of its Educational Committee.

A proponent of legal scholarship, Petrunya is an adjunct professor at Duquesne University School of Law where he teaches trial advocacy. From 2010 to 2015, he coached the mock trial team at CAPA High School in Pittsburgh. Petrunya serves as a volunteer coordinator for Make-A-Wish.

For his contributions to the legal profession, Petrunya has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star for the past three years and made The National Trial Lawyers' “Top 40 under 40” list in 2014 and 2015.

Petrunya is an alumnus of Villanova University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in political science. He received his Juris Doctor from Duquesne University School of Law.
