Pennsylvania nursing home neglect

Victims of nursing home abuse come from the most vulnerable adult segments of the population in Pennsylvania. Considering the level of helplessness under which many of these victims live, cases of nursing home neglect are particularly saddening when revealed. In some cases, victims suffer serious, lifelong and debilitating injuries. In other cases, the abuse is so severe that it results in death.

Nursing homes are for-profit organizations that often trying to cut corners on staffing and other costs, and this can result in neglect. However, nursing homes may also hire, and fail to supervise, violent staff members who mistreat and abuse the residents who live in their facilities. When this happens, it is both horrible and illegal, and the nursing homes that are guilty of such negligent and abuse can be held accountable under the law. Furthermore, nursing staff members guilty of violence toward residents can and should be criminally punished for their crimes.

At Robert Peirce & Associates, there is nothing we want more than to make Pennsylvania a state that is completely free of nursing home abuse, but we know that this is not possible. What we can do, however, is prosecute those who are guilty of abusing and neglecting our elderly population to the fullest extent of the law. We can also strive to ensure that victims and their families are justly compensated for the injuries and damages that are caused to them by this unconscionable behavior.

Victims of nursing home neglect in Pennsylvania can seek financial restitution to pay for their injuries, medical care, pain and suffering and other damages in civil court. Also, family members of people who are killed due to nursing home violations can pursue wrongful death claims. While the decision to pursue such an action is definitely a personal one, in many cases such legal proceedings could be the only way that victims have to pay for the medical care they require.
