David A. Martin

Attorney David A. Martin joined Robert Peirce & Associates in 2018 as a law clerk while in law school. In 2020, he became an associate attorney with the firm after being admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar.

Growing up with exposure to the healthcare field—both of his parents are nurses—David originally thought he would follow in their footsteps. He enrolled in the nationally ranked nursing program at Waynesburg University but after three semesters in the program, David realized that bedside nursing was not for him. However, having done a clinical rotation in a nursing home where he provided hands-on care to long-term care residents, he knew that his calling was to assist the sick, injured, and elderly. At that point, David endeavored to go to law school and become a medical malpractice attorney, realizing that he could help people in a different way while still using much of what he learned in nursing school.

Just as David had to learn, prepare for, and understand every aspect of a patient’s condition, treatment, and care prior to and during his rotations in nursing school, he now takes the same approach for his clients. He primarily handles nursing home and medical malpractice cases, helping people and their families traverse difficult situations caused by someone else’s neglect. The in-depth understanding of the standard of care he learned as a nursing student is extremely useful in handling these cases.

David is a graduate of Duquesne University School of Law and participated in multiple national mock trial competitions as part of Duquesne’s renowned Trial Advocacy program. In law school, David was awarded the International Academy of Trial Lawyers Student Advocacy Award and was nominated as a member of the Order of Barristers, in recognition of his achievement in trial practice, evidence, oral advocacy, and civil procedure.

David grew up in South Park and currently resides in Murrysville with his fiancée, Tara. As a lifelong Pittsburgher, avid Steelers fan, and former college football player, he enjoys watching football and attending other sporting events. His years playing football sharpened his competitive nature, on which he capitalizes to do the best work possible for his clients during litigation of their cases.

“Learning every single detail of a case is extremely important to me, as I strive to deliver stylistic and individualized care to each and every client.”
