Expediting the Social Security Disability process

For some individuals, who need Social Security Disability benefits immediately, it may be possible to expedite the process down to a matter of days. In the past, it was not unheard of for sick Americans to die before they could gain approval for their Social Security Disability claim. Now, certain applicants in Pennsylvania and the rest of the nation who have severe medical conditions may be able to qualify within just 15 days.

There are a total of 225 severe medical conditions, and if an individual suffers from one of these conditions, they can request that their application be fast tracked. This will ensure that they receive benefits in time to get the vital support they require. The program is referred to as the Compassionate Allowances program, and it is helping numerous Americans get healthier when they would not have a chance to otherwise.

So far, approximately 95 percent of these applications are approved by SSDI, and the rest are put through an appeals process. As of December 2013, the average monthly benefit received was $1,146 by applicants who qualified for this program. Since the program began in 2008, approximately 200,000 Americans have benefited.

Many individuals have no idea that the Compassionate Allowances program exists and are surprised to discover that options exist for people with severe conditions. Other groups, such as veterans, may also be able to expedite the SSDI application process. Social Security law is complex, and it is important for Pennsylvania residents in need of Social Security Disability to familiarize themselves with the process in order to maximize their benefits received and get them as quickly as possible.
