Pittsburgh Bard PowerPort Attorneys

Aggressively Seeking Justice for Pennsylvania Patients

As patients, we invest tremendous trust in our medical providers to act in our best interests and “do no harm.” Sadly, this is far from the norm in our current healthcare system. From dangerous drugs to defective medical devices, many medical companies choose to put profits over people, inflicting serious harm on the lives of patients and their loved ones.

If you were wrongfully injured by the Bard PowerPort or other defective medical device, seeking sound counsel is crucial to securing the fair compensation you rightfully deserve. At Robert Peirce & Associates, P.C., our passionate attorneys have extensive knowledge of product liability, personal injury, and medical malpractice laws in Pennsylvania to aggressively pursue justice on your behalf. From corporate giants to Big Pharma, we have over four decades of experience to bring negligent medical companies to justice.

If you were harmed by a defective medical device, turn to our experienced attorneys for dependable advocacy. Call (844) 383-0565 to schedule a free consultation.

What Is the Bard PowerPort?

The Bard PowerPort or “BardPort” is one of several devices sold by Bard Access Systems, Inc. This implantable device is used to administer intravenous fluids and inject dyes and contrast agents for CT scans, MRIs, and PET scans. Cancer patients commonly use these products during chemotherapy treatments for many types of cancer.

However, due to the high concentrations of barium sulfate, this port catheter is prone to fracturing, resulting in severe harm to patients. Other models, including the Bard PowerFlow, SlimPort, and X-Port, have also been linked to adverse health effects.

Injuries Linked to Bard PowerPort

Due to manufacturing and design issues, Bard PowerPort devices have been linked to various injuries to patients due to fracturing and migrating. Common injuries include:

  • Infections and septic shock
  • Deep vein thrombosis (DVT)
  • Pulmonary embolism
  • Thrombolytic strokes
  • Vascular damage
  • Death

Do I Have a Bard PowerPort Claim?

If you or a loved one were injured by a Bard PowerPort, our determined attorneys can help you file a claim and demand justice. To qualify, you need evidence of your PowerPort implantation, resulting injuries, and medical documentation linking your injuries to the defective device.

That’s where our Pittsburgh lawyers come in. If you experienced an infection, septic shock, or related injury due to a Bard device, don’t wait to seek justice. At Robert Peirce & Associates, P.C., our in-depth understanding of product liability and medical malpractice laws empowers our advocates to fortify your case with relevant evidence and hold liable parties accountable for your suffering.

Our firm can zealously protect your rights while fighting to obtain a favorable settlement. From arranging expert testimonies to obtaining medical records and other key evidence, our highly skilled attorneys can work hard to establish proximate cause and recover damages on your behalf.

Recoverable Damages in a Bard PowerPort Lawsuit

While no amount of compensation can make up for these life-altering injustices you've suffered, our Bard PowerPort attorneys can fight to recover damages for medical expenses, treatment costs, lost wages, and other losses so you can focus on your recovery. Our seasoned advocates can work tirelessly to maximize available damages to ensure you’re compensated fairly.

Depending on the unique circumstances of your claim, you may be eligible to recover the following damages:

  • Economic Damages: These compensate for financial losses, such as lost earnings, hospital bills, medication costs, past and future medical expenses, loss of earning capacity, and rehabilitative therapies.
  • Non-Economic Damages: These compensate for non-financial losses that aren’t easily quantified into monetary amounts, such as pain and suffering, emotional distress, scarring and disfigurement, loss of enjoyment of life, and loss of consortium.
  • Punitive Damages: Although punitive damages are awarded more rarely than economic and non-economic damages, they may be granted in cases involving extreme negligence or malice. Unlike other damages, punitive damages are awarded to punish the defendant for their behavior rather than compensate the victim for losses.
